Who Are We?

Springfield Community Together LTRG (SCT-LTRG) is made up of designated representatives from 15 professional, faith-based and community organizations partnering to provide for the unmet needs of residents who live in Springfield, directly affected by the June 1, 2011 tornado. The organizations include but not limited to:

  • American Red Cross
  • Catholic Charities
  • Christ Presbyterian Church
  • Community Legal Aid
  • City of Springfield Office of Housing
  • Greater Springfield Habitat for Humanity
  • Greater Springfield Senior Services
  • Episcopal Diocese of Western Mass (Fiscal Agent/Sponsor)
  • HAP Housing
  • Presbyterian Disaster Assistance
  • Rebuilding Together Springfield
  • Salvation Army
  • Springfield Christian Ministries Disaster Relief
  • Springfield Partners for Community Action
  • United Way of Pioneer Valley

To ethically support disaster survivors in the city of Springfield through meeting unmet needs, while creating a sustainable model for long term recovery.

Our Vision?

Springfield Community Together will serve the disaster-related unmet needs of Springfield residents within reasonable limitation of our available resources.

What is Long Term Recovery?

Long term disaster recovery is the time when individuals, families and organizations work together to restore and revitalize the community after the effects of a disaster.

Long Term Recovery is:

  • Needs-Centered
  • Action-Oriented
  • Results-Focused

What are Unmeet Needs?

Issues that individuals and families continue to have due to the June 1 Tornado such as:

  • housing, home repairs,
  • transportation,
  • relocation,
  • personal items,
  • employment,
  • debris clean-up,
  • emotional stress and
  • other problems caused by the tornado

What can tornado surivors expect from Springfield Community Together?

Confidential and thorough assessment of individual and family needs, information, referrals, and financial and other forms of assistance, within the scope of our available resources.

What can donors, contributors and volunteers expect from SCT-LTRG?

SCT-LTRG offers transparency and respect to donors, contributors, and volunteers who extend their resources to us.
